Greetings from the 2019 government shutdown! As I record this podcast, we’re in the middle of the longest government shutdown in history. The central issue of the shutdown is immigration, and the central object is a wall.
My guest today is Rev. Noel Andersen, Grassroots Coordinator for Immigrants’ Rights for the United Church of Christ and Church World Service. I’ve got big questions about this shutdown, and Noel is the person I go to whenever I have questions about immigration policy. He’s going to walk us through this minefield of divided politics and help us get to the root of the crisis unfolding here in Washington.
